5 favorite photo websites
March 27, 2008 – 5:00 amThere are a whole bunch of websites showing great images but this is what feeds my RSS daily and keeps me informed about the photo industry and the business of photography. Lots of great information here…in no particular order:
Microstock Diaries - Publisher Lee Torens shares marketing insights and publishes his actual monthly earnings for readers. “Microstock Diaries is a blog for people who sell photos in the microstock market. It’s also for people considering doing so. I share my experiences as a microstock contributor and my observations of the microstock market. Along with comments from visitors, this creates a resource of ideas and information.”
Strobist - One of the strongest photo communities on the ‘net, you’ll find fabulous and inventive flash photography tips here. “This website is about one thing: Learning how to use off-camera flash with your dSLR to take your photos to the next level. Here, you’ll find everything you need to know about how to more effectively use your small speedlights. There are more than 800 articles about lighting. Over a million photographers from around the world have learned small-flash lighting techniques from this site. We’re thinking you can, too.”
New York Photography - Dave Beckerman, photographer, is living the dream. From his small New York apartment this street photographer shares what it’s like to live, breathe, eat and sleep photography, earning his sole income from marketing his photographs on the internet.
News: Digital Photography Review - Catch all the news on new cameras, lenses and software as they are introduced. DPReview has a wealth of information in their camera reviews…this is the first place I turn for technical info. Tap into this extensive photo community by exploring their forums.
Robert Wright Photo - A talented, insightful NY advertising and editorial photographer comments on the industry.
